I just finished watching a new documentary called “Got the Facts on Milk?”, a play on the popular “Got Milk” campaign. I am now pleased, and proud, to announce that I am a dairy-free girl. While in the past months I’ve majorly cut down on my dairy consumption (99% in the form of cheese), it’s now no longer a part of my life. While I’m sad to see it go, and I’ll miss my beloved cheese, it’s just not fit for human consumption.
I’m not one to sit on a soapbox and preach what you should and shouldn’t eat. I’m not going to do that here, either. But you need to watch this documentary and make the choice for yourself. Simply stated: The Dairy Council is brainwashing the public with their $175 million dollar advertising budget into thinking that milk is needed for healthy bones, teeth, and that we need it for our calcium needs.
That’s not true. At all. (Did you know we can get tons of calcium from veggies like collard greens, kale, and garlic?)
Perhaps now is the time to question why you’re drinking/eating dairy. Because “it does a body good?” Do you absolutely know that’s true? I highly recommend you check out this documentary (you can purchase the streaming video, like I did, for only $5.99) and make the decision for yourself.
